SD Backyard.com is the San Diego Union Tribune’s answer to competition from citizen journalists. I get the meat and potatoes from the internet but the local fishwrap does a nice job on the obituaries. I’m a serial obituary reader (I love people) so the U-T is my Sunday companion on the beach. U.S. drivers appear to be succumbing to price shock at the pump. Sales of pickups, minivans and SUVs have fallen below 50 percent of new passenger-vehicle sales this year for the first time since 2001 as consumers turned to smaller vehicles in favor of fuel economy. Drivers, meanwhile, are becoming more prudent in their driving habits.

On Thursday 26 June 2008, Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) crashed and fell almost 360 points after crude oil futures rose sharply passing above $140 level. Dow loses extended to Friday when it dropped 106.91 (-0.93%) to close at 11,346.51. DJI lowest level of 11,634 in Jan 2008 was taken out by the bear and we have a bearish trend confirmation.

Tuesday and I'm really bummed because I thought it was Wednesday for some reason. I really went through the day thinking, "Hump day. Weekend's almost here." You know, I am not a terribly religious person... I do not go to church every Sunday (and, in fact, have not been in quite some time), I have a hard time narrowing down what my beliefs exactly are (outside of the generic term "Christian"), and I am hardly what one would consider "evangelical". That said, having attended Roman Catholic and Lutheran schools, and been brought up Episcopalian and Anglican Catholic, I do know all manner of religious trivia. No, I didn't spell the title of this post wrong. My Fair Lady is my favorite musical and lately my husband has been complimenting me on my ability to plan vacations...I am a good researcher as to the different fares.
